Kandalu X manual
If you have iTunes set up to copy songs to your iTunes music folder, and Kandalu X does not copy songs to this folder, then adding songs to iTunes could be very slow. Why is copying slowed down? The songs will be transfered to your computer at the same rate as normal, but when Kandalu X starts to add songs to iTunes, iTunes will make a copy of each one of these songs, then add it to the iTunes music folder, and then go on to adding the next song. Copying a few gigabytes of music to your computer is slow enough, there is no reason to make a second copy of it. Not only will it slow things down, but the second copy of the music could take up a significant amount of your hard drive space. How do I avoid this? You have two options to avoid this scenario. First, you can turn off the option in iTunes to copy songs to your iTunes music folder. Your other option is to change the save location in Kandalu X to the same location as that in iTunes. (If you don't know your iTunes music folder location, then it's probably the default setting, ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/, but you can check in the advanced section of iTunes' preferences to be sure.) See the quick start section if you do not know how to change our save location.
